Event Notes

× In collaboration with the Chester Curling Club, we are pleased to present the coming-of-age documentary Curl Power .

Synopsis:
Curl Power follows a team of teenage girls as they pursue their unusual dream of becoming Canadian National Curling Champions, and seek out their own paths amid the legacies of their world champion mothers.
This intimate and imaginative documentary tells a story of angst and ecstasy, following the funny and tender evolution of five best friends as they reckon with their bodies, minds, and the great unknown.

Gorgeously shot, uniquely unpredictable, and effectively capturing pleasing small town vibes and athletic movie drama with equal aplomb, Curl Power weaves a tale of modern female empowerment against the backdrop of a sport that’s often seen as old fashioned and stodgy by outsiders .” - thegate.ca

***Following the showing of Curl Power, the Chester Curling Club invites you to an Open House at the rink (190 Pig Loop Road, beside the skating arena) to enjoy a cup of delicious hot chocolate, and give curling a try. No matter your experience, age, or mobility level, experienced curlers will be on-hand to safely show you how to enjoy this fun Canadian winter activity. Come meet some new friends, and have fun!
